Worship

Our congregation welcomes people of all ages, races, ethnic background, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, and political views.

Worship in the Steelville Presbyterian Church includes prayer, music, Bible reading and a sermon based upon Scripture, prayers of intercession, personal response/offering, and the Sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

Worship Time

The worship hour begins at 10:30 a.m. and typically lasts one hour. An adult Sunday School class is held prior to worship beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Music

The music during worship is typically more traditional. We select hymns from The Presbyterian Hymnal. Lyrics are also projected during worship.

Children in Worship

We always encourage bringing children to worship. We believe it is important for families to worship together. There is also a children’s message during worship in which they are welcome to come forward.

The Lord's Supper

We celebrate the sacrament of The Lord’s Supper (communion) on the first Sunday of each month. We welcome everyone to the table, including children, to share in the Sacrament, recognizing that “it is not a right bestowed upon the worthy, but a privilege given to the undeserving who come in faith, repentance and love.”

In order that all may partipate, we offer grape juice & wine, bread & gluten-free wafers.

The Lord's Prayer

We regularly use the Lord’s Prayer during worship We use the words “debts” and “debtors” instead of “trespass” and “trespass against us.” If you don’t have the Lord’s Prayer memorized, we will have the words in print or projected for your convenience.

Offering

Each service includes the opportunity for an offering – a time when we can give back to the Lord just a small portion of the gifts we have received. Offerings support the various ministries of our church. Please know that any gift of any size will always be welcomed, but do not feel obligated to give.

What to Wear

You will find a wide array of attire at SPC. Some wear suits, ties and dresses. Others come in jeans or shorts. Whatever you are comfortable wearing is the right outfit.

Accessibility

Our building is two levels and both levels are ADA accessible. Ramps are available at the outside entry for both levels. An elevator runs between the sanctuary on the top level to the fellowship hall on the lower level.
