Easter Sunday was a glorious and festive celebration as we welcomed three new members to our church. The day began with Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. under the direction of the Worship Committee, followed by a breakfast in Roper Hall and an Easter egg hunt. The 11 a.m. service included an Easter Cantata by our choir, the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, and the confirmation of Alexis, Rachel, and Jacob.

Annual Groundhog Supper

Over 50 men and boys of the community enjoyed oyster stew, bean soup, and groundhog stew at the annual Groundhog Supper on February 2nd. Brett Bailey, director for the Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch in Steelville, was the guest speaker. Brett used an analogy to the Fatal Funnel to tell the men not to lose sight of what is important and to speak up about what is right. In combat, the Fatal Funnel is one of the most dangerous areas to be in when traversing a building and includes doorways or other narrow passageways in and out of a room. Fatal Funnels reduce your ability to see the approach of a threat, limit your options to maneuver, and offer no cover.

Linda, Lanin, Marilyn and Judy, you are now Elders; Carol, Brad, Becky and Ann, you are now Deacons, and John you are now a Trustee in the church of Jesus Christ, in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and for the Steelville Presbyterian Church. We agree to encourage you, to respect your decisions, and to follow as you guide us, serving Jesus Christ who alone is Head of the Church. Be faithful and true in your ministry so that your whole life will bear witness to the crucified and risen Christ. We also send a heartfelt thank you to those whose terms expired today including Marilyn, Colleen, Mary, Rob, Amy, Alex, Jacquie, and Bill.

Christmas Eve Service

Our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion Service was beautiful. The service was planned by the Worship Committee and included familiar lessons and carols. The service concluded with the singing of “Silent Night” and candle lighting.

Presbyterian Women’s Fall Bazaar

The Steelville Presbyterian Women held their annual Fall Bazaar on Saturday, November 12th. This year, we featured fresh baked cinnamon rolls which were a huge hit. The Lunch Room served our traditional chicken salad sandwiches, sloppy joes, and pie. The Country Kitchen sold baked and canned goods. We also sold holiday and craft items as well as lots of books. It was a very successful day and we thank everyone participated.

Baptism

Bible School

We had a great weekend of Bible School on August 27-28! Sunday’s worship service included the kids’ dramatic version of The Good Samaritan story and the teens’ mission trip report! Thanks to all who helped!

Joint Worship Service at Mound Ridge

We had a wonderful service on Sunday as 122 Presbyterians from Trinity Chapel, First Presbyterian Church of Cuba, and Steelville Presbyterian Church gathered at Mound Ridge.
